Betrayal, a dramatic play, is set to hit the stage March 12-14 in the Elsie Plaster Auditorium with performances scheduled nightly at 7:30 along with a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday.
Written by Harold Pinter, this 1978 play features a cast starring Rebecca Ross (Emma), Zaq Ezell (Robert) and Brandon Hall (Jerry).
The drama centers around three adults caught in a complicated love triangle. After admitting to a lengthy affair with her husband’s best friend (Jerry), Emma must face her own deception toward Jerry in giving up their secret. Students can expect to see “…a very intense relationship play,” says NaTasha O’Brien, theatre instructor/department head.
“She [Emma] has this power struggle between her husband and a lover when she really just wants to be in control of her life, but it’s hard to do that when you have leashes on everything else,” says Ross, theatre/psychology major. “There is a sense of power and control and when you try to control someone else, you can end up hurting yourself as well. This is going to be up-close and personal because of the black box setting.”
