Crowder advances to Region 16 tourney

On Feb. 24, Crowder College takes the win at home after defeating Jefferson College with a score oAmanda_Rowdenf 81-65. The Lady Roughriders are able to advance to the semifinals in which they will play against State Fair at Ozark Christian College. The winning team will then advance to the second round of the Region 16.

When playing against Jefferson, Baylee Tanner scored 33 points, and Kadesha Cooper scored 14 points putting Crowder in the lead with 47 points total. The team was only in the lead by a few points, until the second half, at which Crowder took control and went for the win.

The Lady Riders have faced a lot of change this year in the aspect of new teammates. The players who have signed for the 2015-16 season are: Yazmin Batch, Kadisha Cooper, Roana Paterson, Connie Poletti, Cori Williams, Baylee Tanner, Alissa Rowden, Brooke Sagely, Sawyer Salisbury, Miranda Linton, and Jamilia Parker. The new Lady Riders have brought much talent to the team strategically, which could be seen at Tuesday night’s game.

Amanda Rowden, #20, stated, “At first it’s a little scary because you don’t know what the new team is going to be like, but soon you are spending everyday with them, and start to become like a family.”

Rowden later stated, “We came focused and energized, ready to play. We wanted to show everyone we could get the win.”

The Lady Riders ended their season with a record of 17-15.
