Crowder stomps Jefferson 90-52 Alumni Game PhotoThe players of the Lady ‘Riders Basketball team had a reason to celebrate when they walked out of Bob Sneller Gymnasium this past Sat. after defeating Jefferson Community College, 90 – 52, in front of a decent sized crowd for alumni day.

“Our girls played well defensively and I thought they were very focused at the task at hand,” said Tina Robbins, women’s basketball coach and physical education instructor.

Terai Sadler, sophomore #10, Camila Lacerda, freshman #22, and Sarah Sagely, sophomore #3, had solid performances on Saturday, when Sadler led the Lady ‘Riders with 33 points, eight rebounds, six assists and four steals, while Lacerda brought in 20 points, six boards and six assists. Sagely also came out of the game with 11 points, six boards and five steals.

Other players to score for the Lady ‘Riders included Caprese Marshall, sophomore #12, with 10 points, Seleena Neal, freshman #32, with nine points, Caitlin Miller, sophomore #21, with three points and Dorian Briggs, freshman #5, and Megan Ritter, freshman #11, with two points each.

During halftime, the former Lady ‘Rider basketball players that were present were honored at half court, and after the game, the ladies were given the opportunity to play in an exhibition game against each other.

On Wed., Feb. 6, the Lady ‘Riders hosted 14th ranked Iowa Western, and defeated them 67 – 63. According to a recent post on the official Facebook page of the women’s basketball team, the team “played solid defensively” and “made big shots when they needed them.”

The Lady ‘Riders now stand at 22 – 4 for the season, and they will host Arkansas Baptist on Sat., Feb. 9, then take to the road for the next three games before returning home on Sat., Feb. 23 for their final home game of the season against Three Rivers.

“We are the underdogs in our bracket, so we have to play each game as hard as we can, so we can get respect,” said Marshall.
