Q&A: Megan Murphy

 Megan Murphy, a graduate from Neosho High School, is an aspiring journalism major, who hopes to make a career in U.S. politics someday.

How long have you been a student at Crowder?

Almost a week.

Tell me a little bit about yourself.

I’ve lived here in Neosho for my whole life. I have a twin sister and younger brother. I have a dog named Jackson.

What do you plan on majoring in?

Journalism

What is your thoughts on Journalism?

I’ve always found Journalism interesting. My mom was writer and used to work for a radio in town (Neosho). She also writes a column for the Neosho Daily News.

Where do you hope Journalism takes you?

Again, I’ve always found it interesting. Hope it takes me to U.S. Politics.

Who do you look up too in Journalism?

I like Anderson Cooper.

What is his involvement in Journalism?

He’s on CNN. I don’t have cable anymore, so I don’t know.

What has been the biggest challenge of Journalism so far?

There’s a lot of negative opinion, especially with the election going on. It’s hard to report on a tragedy.

What is your favorite thing about Journalism?

Breaking stories. For example, the whole Clinton thing is a complete mess.

Do you have any advice for upcoming Journalist?

Never give up. Don’t let negative opinions affect you.

What is your favorite hobby?

I like to write. I’ve written a little bit of fan fiction before. I like to write and read mostly.

What is your favorite class at Crowder?
I like history. It’s easy to take notes in that class.
