The Lady ‘Rider basketball team holds an overall record of 4-7 as of Dec. 3, after experiencing close point margins at the end of several games so far this season.

After pre-season scrimmage games, Crowder opened their season at home on Nov. 1 against Eastern Oklahoma, where the Lady ‘Riders suffered a 63-41 loss. Remaining at home four days later, Crowder would earn a 61-54 victory against Allen County.

Crowder would keep the momentum rolling into the North Arkansas tournament on Nov. 7-8, as the Lady ‘Riders won both games participated in, 91-63 against Missouri Baptist, and 89-20 against Baptist Bible College.

Holding a 3-1 overall record following the tournament, the Lady ‘Riders would suffer through four straight losses against Independence, Seminole, as well as in the Don Wilson Classic against Carl Albert and Cowley County.

The last time the Lady ‘Riders won a game was when they defeated the Allen County Lady Red Devils 95-75 in Iola, Kan.

Thays Barbosa, sophomore post, says that communication needs to improve as the second half of the season approaches.

“We need to communicate more,” said Barbosa, who hails from Goiana, Brazil.

Amanda Rowden, freshman guard, also agrees that communication and interaction between teammates need to improve as January approaches.

“We need to work on our communication and bonding together as a team,” said Rowden, a native of Strafford, Mo. “We need to play together on the floor more instead of one person trying to do it all.”

The Lady ‘Riders will return to action against Coffeyville on Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. in Bob Sneller Gymnasium. The team will then head to Harrison, Ark. on Dec. 12 to play North Arkansas for their final game of the first half of the season. The game will start at 5 p.m. The team will return to the floor of Bob Sneller Gymnasium on Jan. 2 at 6 p.m. to kick off the second half of their season against Redlands.
