Lady Roughriders keep rolling
After a 12-21 record last year, the Lady Riders basketball team have come out of the gates at 17-7. They have gone 6-3 since the start of Jan. and seem to have kept the momentum going. Sophomores Zahria White and Nicole Ickes have assumed leadership, and also come through on the scoreboard averaging 12.6 and 9.8 ppg. Ickes is also making her presence felt on the defensive end averaging 1.5 spg (steals per game). Some upcoming games include here Feb. 10 and 14 against Mineral Area College.

Athletic director inducted into hall of fame

Athletic director inducted into hall of fameee and State Fair Community College. They then travel to Jefferson College on Feb. 17.

Crowder baseball in shape for season start
The baseball team heads to Oklahoma on Feb. 10 to play Seminole State College. Des Moines Area Community College comes here on Feb. 17 and 18.

Softball sets off spring semester
The girls open at home on Feb. 13 against Lyons College. Then Labette Community College comes to town on Feb. 15.

Athletic director inducted into hall of fame
Millie Gilion was the first inductee in the Miami Athletics Hall of Fame. Gilion was a standout performer in basketball, softball and track. She was Miami’s first basketball player to earn all-state honors and the Jim Thorpe award. She scored a total of 131 points in three of her games her senior year. Gilion continued her athletic career at Crowder, by playing basketball and softball. In 1988, Gilion became the head softball coach. During her tenure, the girls were 506-141 in 13 seasons and won three Region XVI titles. She is now Crowder’s athletic director.
