Barry Williams, star of the classic hit television sitcom, The Brady Bunch, was at the Joplin Business Expo on Jan. 22, to greet fans and promote his current Branson show, 70s Music Celebration.

The Days of the Brady Bunch

Talk a little bit about your days in the Brady Bunch. How did that go?

You know, it’s all an evolution. Brady Bunch was great, loved doing it. It’s like having a second family and I’m living the Johnny Bravo dream now. The Johnny Bravo, the guy who wanted to get out and be on stage and rock it out and have fun and so I’m getting down with the 70’s Music Celebration in Branson.

What would your favorite episode of the Brady Bunch be?

“Adios Johnny Bravo” baby!

Moving to Branson

How long have you been living down in Branson?

I’ve been working [in Branson] for four years and living here for two. I live on Table Rock Lake. You gotta drag me off the lake to get me to go do a show.

So you do like it here in Missouri?

I do. I’m a horseback rider. I like zipping [zip lining], waterskiing, cliff diving, hiking, you know, all of it.

Do you like it here in Missouri better than out in California?

Very happy here. I feel like I’ve come home.

70’s Music Celebration

Named Branson’s “Hippest” new show from 2013, Williams’ show will take viewers on a trip back to the musical aspect of the 1970s.

“You got Lynard Skynard in there, we have Kansas, the Eagles, the disco thing and everyone rocks it out and dances in their chairs,” said Williams. “It’s all the different styles of the music from Elton John and Billy Joel, to singer-songwriter. We do one hit wonders, TV theme songs, country crossovers, there’s some sing-alongs and a big disco section. It kind of all moves quickly and fun and you know, people slappin’ and clappin’ and stompin’.”

With the show being held at the RFD-Theatre, the new season for 70s Music Celebration begins on March 11. According to the show’s official website, www.70smusiccelebration.com, a 2014 show schedule has not yet been posted.
