Springfield serves up something new

There’s no denying that when it comes to things to do in Neosho, the options are pretty slim. Sure students can drive up to Joplin when they are looking for, well, more options for food and possibly shopping. However even then, Joplin can become a bit redundant. Even though a lot of college students can’t really afford to drive somewhere far off into the distance, we can probably manage a trip to somewhere nearby that will give us a nice and very welcomed change of scenery. Folks, that change of scenery that isn’t too far away is none other than good ole Springfield, Missouri.

Springfield is about an hour and 20 minutes away and has plenty to offer for a college student looking for something to do. Whether you’re looking for a variety of food options (which lets be honest, we’re always looking for food), new places to shop, or new places to just explore; Springfield has that.

Luckily for us, Springfield has a lot going on! Recurring every Thursday until Dec. 31, Springfield has a farmers market starting at 4pm to 7pm. This farmers market has a variety of so much from unique gifts to live music to even food (score). What’s even better about this, you may ask? Well, it’s free. Doesn’t get much better than that, let me tell you.

Next up on this list of things to do in Springfield is the super cool event called Wingapalooza 15! Yes, it’s everything you’ve ever wanted and more. Wings, wings, and more wings. This amazing event takes place from Nov. 6-7 at the Springfield Exposition Center.

Springfield also offers the Second Saturday Art Walk from 1-5pm every second Saturday every month. Making the Art Walk land on Nov. 14! Many galleries, restaurants, shops and more participate in this fun event so it’s definitely something to check out.

To take a nice transition out of fall to more of a Christmas feel, take a look into the Festival of Lights that takes place Nov. 21 in Downtown Springfield! This event has fireworks, ice-skating, Christmas tree lighting, shows, music, and more!

Hopefully when you’re sitting around, wondering what to do, you can take a small road trip to Springfield to take on some new adventures!
