The Neosho Community Choir will hold its Christmas Gala on Dec. 5, with a set of songs ranging from traditional carols to new arrangements.

The Neosho Community Choir will hold its Christmas Gala at the Neosho High School Auditorium at 7 p.m. on Dec. 5.

While the choir has been active since 1989, this year’s gala will be a fairly new event, the first of which was held just last year.

The performance is free to the public and the program will consist of traditional Christmas songs and carols as well as new arrangements.

This year’s gala will be a “fancy evening” according to choir director Becky Shaw. There will also be a catered dinner during the event.

The choir includes singers from Neosho and Crowder, as well as the surrounding areas, who were involved in singing at school and wish to continue singing as adults.

Kenzie Beard, a Crowder student involved in the choir, said the community choir allows her to sing with members of her community and be involved in something meaningful.

“I absolutely love participating in the choir,” Beard said. ” It gives me something to do and be a part of something bigger. My favorite part is that I get to sing with other people in the community and see all the voices coming together and also working with Becky. I participate in the choir because I enjoy singing and working with all those wonderful people.”

This year’s choir member include Dori Helms, Julie Doubek, LeeAnn Findley, Dr. Kent Findley, Brad Gibson, Karen Griffiths, Rosie Griffiths, Shelly Langland, Karen Martin, Lynn Otey, Jeryn Preston, Mark Preston, Aaron Preston, Jerry Richmond, Dr. Herb Schade, Julie Schofield, Brian Shaw, Bernadine Sprenkle, Larry Swift, Roberta Pommert, Rob Pommert, Teresa Hanger, Sherry Perkins, Destinee Winningham, and Luis Linares.
