Audio: Morning Inspirations S1E1

Written, hosted, produced and directed by Jesse O. Walls.

Welcome to morning inspirations. I’m your host, Jesse Walls.

Today’s quote comes from Thomas S. Monson, the 16th President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

“Our most significant opportunities will be found in times of greatest difficulty.”

In life we experience many trials and tribulations, and I think it’s safe to say that it’s not an easy ride, and it was never meant to be. It’s our trials and the difficulties we experience that make us who we are, that shape the person we will become. We start as children learning from our mistakes and our shortcomings and as we grow we learn to adapt, to conquer and to overcome.

We are given choices along the way and some of the hardest choices come in times of great difficulty. Can we face our fears? Can we overcome our obstacles? Can we continue to move forward? It’s been said that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, and if you exercise your weaknesses, they will soon become your strengths.

Winston Churchill once said, “A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.”

Are we taking advantage of those opportunities, or are we blinded by the difficulties?

We are in control of our own destinies, and it is our perception of a situation that determines whether it is a difficulty or a chance to improve.
