Olivia Clark, an educations major, from East Newton currently cheers for the Roughriders.

What made you decide your major?

I’ve always wanted to be a teacher ever since I was a little girl, I had a really good Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) teacher, and I love FCCLA.

What is FCCLA?

Family Career and Community Leaders of America is the only in school organization with family as its central focus. It teaches student family, career, and community leadership skills that will help them in their adult world.

What is FACS?

Previously known as home economics, Family and Consumer Sciences deals with the relationship between individuals, families, and communities in the environment in which they live.

What are your hobbies?

Cheerleading, baking, sewing.

What made you want to come to Crowder?

Tuition costs, friendly faculty, close to home, and cheer.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

With a job as a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher, and hopefully married.

Why did you want to be a cheerleader at Crowder?

I want to be a cheer coach, and I love cheering, and I want to help build the cheer program here at Crowder.

What is your favorite thing about Crowder?

The small classroom sizes. It’s easier to get more one-on-one help.

What is it like living in the Roughrider Village?

It’s great. The apartments are nice, clean, and staff is always there to help when you need them.

What are your plans after Crowder?

Transferring to Missouri State [University-Springfield], and finishing my teaching degree.

When you were a little girl what did you want to be when you grew up?

I always wanted to be a mom.

What classes would you be teaching once you receive your degree?

Classes like child development, nutrition and wellness, possibly personal finance, and sewing.

Where would you like to teach?

I would like to teach at East Newton. That’s where I graduated from, and it’s a good school in a small area.

What kind of music do you listen to?

I listen to anything from classical, to country, to opera, to rap.

What is your favorite book? 

Flowers in the Attic by V.C. Andrews. You are always drawn to the book, it keeps you interested.

What is your favorite movie?

I have several. Chicago, James and the Giant Peach and Law Abiding Citizen.

What is your favorite song?

The National Anthem, I like the lyrics as they relate to our country and our freedom.

If you could go to any place where would you go and why?

Anywhere in Europe, because of the history and the scenery.

If you could meet any celebrity, who would you want to meet and why?

Beyoncé, because not only is she a celebrity, but also an inspiration to young girls to be independent and fierce.

What is your dream vacation?

Going to the Bahamas and relaxing on the beach.
