How Can Crowder Cares Support Student Success?

Crowder Cares is a program that can help students in distress get some much-needed help and resources that may benefit them on or off campus. It is a referral system by students and faculty meaning anyone can refer who they deem in distress and may need some extra help.

Services

  • Personalized help and support
  • Resources on and off campus
  • Academic alerts used by staff
  • Sexual harassment reports
  • Crowder food pantry

Since 2016, Crowder Cares has been growing its program to help reach the individuals around campus who may need a little extra help, whether on campus or off, their resources are utilized to support the lives of students and faculty as needed. When an individual is referred to their program, they may accept or decline the assistance and Crowder Cares will create a personalized plan to help the individual as well as find resources outside of Crowder that could further assist with hard times.

Academic alerts may be used by staff members when they see that a student may be struggling academically or they become concerned with academic performance (grades suddenly drop, skill deficiencies, etc.). Crowder Cares can help provide assistance in receiving tutoring or extra help to academically succeed.

Many other services are offered, whether a harassment report may need to be filed, emergency funding given certain criteria is met, a food pantry for those in need of some extra groceries, or whatever the case may be, Crowder Cares is there to offer their assistance through the challenges of life that may come.

Many students have reached out in gratitude to the program for the help they received. The program has stated they plan to add a survey or questionnaire in the future to add more insight into how successful the program has been. A referral report may be found on the Crowder College website by searching up Crowder Cares and going to the how to report section or by contacting the Student Affairs office at 417-451-3223.
