Crowder’s Phi Beta Lambda organization welcomed its first state officer this year. Seth Houge, a sophomore majoring in Business Administration, is in his third semester at Crowder.

Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda is a nonprofit education association with a quarter million students preparing for careers in business and business-related fields.

Houge said he wanted to join PBL in college because he was in FBLA all throughout high school and wanted to continue onto the collegiate division. He wanted to run for state office because he wanted to make a difference in Missouri FBLA-PBL. Houge’s biggest influence in pursuing PBL was his advisors and overall experience at Butler High School.

Houge’s best memory in PBL is getting the opportunity to serve as a state officer. “If others are timid about joining, just go for it,” he said. “You will not know if you like it until you try it.” Houge said, the position has introduced a lot of new thinking skills when it comes to virtual events as far as keeping the content engaging and fun.
