SCO dicusses Spring events

The Student Clubs and Organizations (SCO) meets on the second Friday of each month during the school year. Meetings are from 8:30 a.m. – 10 a.m. and are open for anyone to attend, they also offer food during each meeting.  

During the meeting on April 8, members from PBL, Phi Theta Kappa, Art Club and a few others gathered to discuss upcoming events. Such as Neosho’s Easter Eggstravaganza, a new SCO page on Canvas, a few campus events, and “The Gap”. 

A new concept coming to Crowder Fall 2022, is called “The Gap”. It is a designated period from 12:15 p.m. to 1 p.m. where no classes will be offered or take place. This time is to allow students a better chance for eating, studying, going to club meetings, or doing whatever they need/want to do. There is also the possibility for workshops to be offered including co-curricular classes like understanding financial aid, job readiness and college transfer information.  

Upcoming Spring Events: 

-April is Sexual Assualt Awareness Month, events include: Education event at 12:15 p.m. on April 20, in the Fireside Room, and Denim Day from 11 a.m. to noon, on April 27 in the Student Center, where students can write letters in support of victims.  

-Blood Drive: 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. on May 3 in the Student Center. They are needing volunteers to help with the event as well as volunteers to donate blood.  

-Student Focus Groups: Neosho- 11 a.m. on April 18 in the Newton Hall Conference Room (NHCR), 2:30 p.m. on April 19 in the NCHR, 10 a.m. on April 20 in the Wright Conference Center (WCC), 9 a.m. on April 21 in the WCC, and 9 a.m. on April 22 in the NHCR. Focus groups are about 45 minutes long and offer snacks/drinks. The same material is covered in each group so you only need to go to one. They help provide feedback to Crowder over the college and campus events.  

-The Art Club is hosting an art sale on April 28 in the student Center, any art not sold on campus will be taken to the Neosho Farmer’s Market to sell over the weekend.  

-The Theatre Department is showing The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) at 7:30 p.m. nightly from April 28-30, as well as a 2 p.m. matinee on April 30.  

-Summer Theatre is hosting auditions for Annie Jr. from 5-7 p.m. on May 2-3 in the Elsie Plaster Community Center; room 124.  

– Spring Graduation is going back to a traditional ceremony. There will be three events, all held in the Bob Sneller Gymnasium on the Neosho Campus. 7 p.m. on May 13 for Nursing, 10 a.m. on May 14 for Gen. Studies, Ag. and Vet Tech, and 1 p.m. May 14 for all other degrees. There is also a rehearsal at 2 p.m. on May 12, meeting in Farber Lobby.
