The caped crusader returns to the big screen in one of the best solo Batman films to date. The Batman stars Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano and is directed by Matt Reeves. The story follows a young Bruce Wayne (Pattinson) in his second year of being the vigilante, Batman. After the murder of Gotham’s mayor on Halloween night, Batman is drawn into the investigation when a letter is left behind by the terrifying Riddler (Dano) titled, “To the Batman.” This causes Batman to venture into the criminal underworld of the city to try and solve the cryptic riddles. AS the Riddler’s plan becomes clearer, Bruce forms new relationships along the way, like Catwoman (Kravitz) who helps unmask the Riddler’s identity and to bring justice to the corruption of Gotham.

With a runtime of nearly 3 hours, the film doesn’t waste any time getting into the story. Depending on the audience’s knowledge of the character, it can give a whole new perspective. Matt Reeves does a beautiful job with this film and the whole cast is brilliant. Robert Pattinson plays a wonderful Bruce Wayne/Batman. The Batman is a true-crime mystery with a mixture of thriller and horror elements. This film serves as a great standalone superhero movie that does not rely on a bigger cinematic universe.
