The U.S. Census is coming up. Why does this matter, one might ask? The importance of having a solid population in your state could mean a lot of money you either gain or lose. They could also help your community in every way. In case one doesn’t know what the Census is, it is when the national government get a head count in the country. It is a population count that happens at the start of every decade.

The results of the 2020 census will determine how millions of dollars of federal funding goes to communities for the next decade. The money could go to funding new schools, or making roads better, to even help pay your local police officers and fire fighters.

Results from the census can help lead to improved roads and highways in your state or community. It can also lead to improvements to public transportation such as buses and subways.

The census can give schools more funding for things other than sports, such as special education programs or after-school programs for kids who don’t have a place to go after school gets out.

The final thing the census can do that will help your community is it can help pay your local police officers and fire fighters. Since they are government workers they get paid by our taxes, which sometimes isn’t enough to support them financially. With the census though, it can help compensate the brave men and women that protect us from dangers.

With Covid-19 running rampant throughout the country and the world, this money could be what helps your family and your community stay safe from the virus.
